Bare-root seedlings ship while dormant and when planting conditions are appropriate for the destination’s USDA Hardiness Zone. Select your preferred shipping season on the product page and use the estimated windows below to plan your planting.
We ship to eligible destinations in USDA Hardiness Zones 6–9. We do not ship to California, Alaska, Hawaii or Zone 5.

Our Better Trees Promise
Eligible dormant bare-root seedlings purchased from White Oak Orchard that fail to break dormancy during their first growing season may qualify for a one-time replacement tree or store credit.
To qualify, seedlings must be planted within three days of delivery, cared for according to the applicable species planting guide and protected at planting with an appropriately sized TreePro tree tube purchased from White Oak Orchard with the seedling order. The tube must be properly installed, secured and maintained during establishment.
Until planting, seedlings must be kept in a cool location with their roots moist, covered and protected from drying, freezing or excessive heat.
Claims must be submitted no later than June 30 immediately following delivery. Additional requirements and exclusions apply. Replacement trees are subject to availability, and customers are responsible for replacement shipping charges.

Grown in Air-Pruning Beds for Superior Root Development
Our seed-grown hybrid chestnut seedlings are an excellent choice for landowners looking to attract deer and turkey, establish dependable fall mast production, and improve wildlife habitat.
We grow each seedling in an air-pruning nursery bed to encourage a dense, fibrous root system rather than circling roots. This root development helps prepare the tree for successful establishment and long-term growth after planting.
Our planting seed is sourced from Chestnut Ridge of Pike County, which identifies its orchard as Dunstan chestnut. Because these trees are seed-grown rather than grafted, individual growth, nut characteristics, and production times may vary.

Best Planting Sites
Hybrid chestnuts perform best in full sun and well-drained soil. They are well suited to food-plot edges, orchard-style plantings, old fields, pasture borders and wildlife openings. Avoid low areas where water remains after heavy rain.
Plant at least two seed-grown chestnut trees within approximately 50–100 feet of one another for effective wind pollination and nut production. Protect young seedlings with a tree tube and control competing vegetation during the first few growing seasons.

Chestnuts produce sweet, energy-rich mast that is highly attractive to deer, turkey and other wildlife. Their fall nut drop can provide an additional food source during hunting season while contributing long-term habitat value to your property.
