Shipping policy

White Oak Orchard ships dormant bare-root tree seedlings, tree-protection products, and eligible planting supplies throughout our approved shipping areas. Shipping rates depend on the products ordered, destination, and shipping season. The shipping options and charges displayed at checkout determine the shipping cost for your order.

Shipping Rates

We offer simple, affordable shipping for our wildlife tree seedlings and eligible planting supplies.

  • $15 flat-rate shipping on eligible orders under $250.
  • FREE standard shipping on eligible orders of $250 or more.
  • FREE shipping on qualifying TreePro tube packs of 10 or more, regardless of order value.

The $250 free-shipping threshold is based on the eligible merchandise subtotal, before taxes and shipping. Discounts may affect whether an order qualifies. Some oversized items, supplier-fulfilled products, and products in separate shipping profiles may have different shipping arrangements. The applicable shipping charges are shown at checkout.

There is no minimum seedling order.

Where We Ship

Bare-Root Tree Seedlings

  • Seedlings ship to eligible addresses in our approved USDA Hardiness Zones 6–9 shipping areas.
  • We do not ship bare-root seedlings to California, Alaska, or Hawaii.
  • We do not currently ship bare-root seedlings to Zone 5.
  • Customers should verify their planting zone and review the individual product recommendations before ordering.

Tree Tubes, Stakes, and Planting Supplies

  • Eligible non-plant products ship within the contiguous United States when shipping is available at checkout.
  • Small tree-tube packs may ship to all Lower 48 states, including California.
  • Availability for other tube quantities, stakes, and supplies depends on the product and destination.
  • We do not ship to Alaska or Hawaii.

Products designated as local pickup or pickup only are not eligible for shipping.

Dormant-Season Seedling Shipping

White Oak Orchard grows its seedlings in air-pruning nursery beds in Trenton, South Carolina. Our bare-root seedlings are lifted and shipped during dormancy to help protect their health during transportation and transplanting.

The following dates are estimated shipping windows. Actual shipping dates depend on weather, nursery conditions, and natural dormancy.

Spring Shipping — Zones 6–9

  • Zone 9: January 15–March 15
  • Zone 8: February 1–March 31
  • Zone 7: February 15–April 1
  • Zone 6: March 1–April 15

Fall and Winter Shipping

Fall shipping generally begins in late November, after our nursery stock becomes fully dormant. Natural leaf drop and weather conditions determine when lifting and shipping can begin.

  • Zone 9: Late November–late January
  • Zone 8: Late November–late January
  • Zone 7: Late November–mid-December, weather permitting
  • Zone 6: Spring shipping only

Customers select an available shipping season when ordering. We may adjust shipping dates or temporarily hold orders when necessary to protect seedling health.

Seedling and Small Tree-Tube Shipping

Eligible individual seedlings, seedling bundles, and small tree-tube packs share our standard shipping arrangement:

  • Orders under $250: $15 flat-rate shipping.
  • Orders of $250 or more: FREE standard shipping.

When small tree-tube packs are ordered with seedlings, we generally combine them into the same shipment when packaging permits.

Large seedling orders may require multiple shipping boxes. Eligible orders within this shipping profile receive the applicable flat or free shipping rate shown at checkout.

TreePro Tree Tubes and Planting Supplies

Individual Tubes and Small Packs

Individual 48-inch and 60-inch TreePro tubes and eligible small packs use our standard shipping rates. These items may be packed with seedling orders when practical.

Tree-Tube Packs of 10 or More

Qualifying TreePro tube packs of 10 or more include FREE standard shipping to eligible destinations in the contiguous United States.

These products may ship directly from our distribution partner and may arrive separately from seedlings or other products in the same order.

Tree Stakes and Oversized Supplies

Tree stakes and other oversized or specially fulfilled products may have separate shipping requirements due to their length, weight, packaging, or fulfillment location. Any applicable shipping charges are displayed at checkout.

Order Processing and Transit Times

Seedling Orders

  • Preordered seedlings ship during the selected seasonal shipping window, not immediately after purchase.
  • During shipping season, seedling orders are generally prepared on Sundays and shipped on Mondays to reduce weekend transit delays.
  • Estimated carrier transit time is generally 3–5 business days after shipment.

Tree Tubes and Supplies

  • In-stock tree tubes and planting supplies are generally processed within 1–3 business days.
  • Supplier-fulfilled orders may have different processing and delivery schedules.
  • Transit times vary by destination and shipping service.

Processing and transit times are estimates, not guaranteed delivery dates. Tracking information is provided when available after shipment.

Weather-Related Shipping Holds

We may delay bare-root seedling shipments when weather or transportation conditions could compromise tree health.

Reasons for a temporary shipping hold may include:

  • Hard freezes at the destination or along the shipping route
  • Severe storms or carrier disruptions
  • Unseasonably warm weather
  • Conditions that could cause seedlings to break dormancy or become damaged in transit

Orders placed on weather hold will ship when conditions are suitable.

Multiple Packages and Split Shipments

Some orders may require multiple packages or separate shipments because of order size, packaging requirements, product availability, or fulfillment from different locations.

  • Customers may receive multiple tracking numbers.
  • Packages may arrive on different days.
  • TreePro products fulfilled by our distribution partner may arrive separately from nursery-grown seedlings.
  • Shipping charges for products in different shipping profiles may be combined at checkout.

All applicable shipping charges are displayed before the customer completes the purchase.

Correct Shipping Address Required

Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address when placing an order.

Please verify the delivery address before checkout. Additional charges may apply if an order must be redirected or reshipped because of an incorrect or incomplete address.

Original shipping charges are not refundable when a package is returned due to an address error provided by the customer.

Seedling Problems at Delivery

Please inspect your seedlings immediately upon delivery and before planting.

Shipping damage, severe drying, or receipt of an incorrect species must be reported within 48 hours of delivery.

  • Your order number
  • Photographs of the shipping box
  • Photographs of the shipping label
  • Clear photographs of the affected seedlings

Claims submitted after 48 hours may be denied. Approved arrival claims may be resolved, at White Oak Orchard's discretion, through replacement trees when available or store credit. Cash refunds are not issued for seedling arrival claims.

Local Pickup

Local pickup is available by appointment at our nursery in Trenton, South Carolina, when offered at checkout.

We will contact customers with pickup instructions after their order is placed. Please wait for confirmation that your order is ready before arriving.
